The Magic of Stories

A note from our founder, Angela....

StoryKeepers began with a simple belief: stories shape how we see the world and how we understand each other.

For as long as I can remember, I have been drawn to stories. My first introduction came through fairy tales. It wasn’t the happily ever after that captivated me, but the dragons, the challenges, and the idea that we can emerge stronger after facing them. I loved the tales of the Brothers Grimm, Hans Christian Andersen, and of course, the imaginative worlds of Walt Disney.

My love of reading truly took flight with Harry Potter. I was in fifth grade, and my mom, wanting my sister and me to grow up as readers, read to us every night. As Harry discovered the wizarding world, I discovered the magic of reading, how stories can transport you, ignite imagination, and make you feel alive.

One night, my parents surprised us with a trip to the midnight release of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Growing up in a small town in New Hampshire, the closest Borders was over an hour away, and yet the store was alive with energy. Fifty people felt like a crowd to us, all buzzing with excitement, surrounded by Harry Potter-themed décor, listening to Jim Dale’s narration in the background. I left with my books in hand, tired and chilly, but exhilarated, experiencing for the first time how stories can create community and shared joy.

Over time, this love of reading became something deeper. Books became more than entertainment. They were a way to connect, to understand, and to find meaning in a fast-moving world.

StoryKeepers exists to share that magic, to connect readers, creators, and local literary communities through curated stories, reviews, and events. Stories are how we understand each other, and StoryKeepers is a place to celebrate, preserve, and keep them alive.

As my life and career evolved, I found myself returning to stories again and again. They became a grounding force, something that helped me reflect, learn, and stay connected to what matters most. StoryKeepers was born out of that realization: stories are not just meant to be consumed, but to be shared, discussed, and preserved.

StoryKeepers exists for people who believe that stories still matter.

We are a community of readers, thinkers, and creators who want more than just the next book recommendation. We want connection. We want to support local literary spaces, amplify meaningful voices, and create space for thoughtful conversation.

Through curated book selections, in-depth reviews, and coverage of literary events in Orlando, StoryKeepers highlights stories that inspire, challenge, and bring people together. We also celebrate the tangible side of storytelling through thoughtfully crafted goods designed to accompany the reading experience.

At its heart, StoryKeepers is about building a community rooted in curiosity, creativity, and shared experience. Whether you are an avid reader or just beginning to rediscover your love of books, there is a place for you here.

We are living in a time where attention is fragmented and connection can feel fleeting. Stories offer something different. They ask us to slow down, to listen, and to engage more deeply with the world around us.

Now, more than ever, we need spaces that foster meaningful connection. StoryKeepers is one of those spaces.

Right now, we are building a platform that not only shares stories but also highlights the people and places behind them, from local literary events to independent voices. Continue to check back on our website and Instagram for updates. Make sure to follow us as we explore the literary scene around Orlando.

This is just the beginning.

We invite you to read with us, explore with us, and become part of a community that believes stories are worth keeping.
